Shmup Strategy & High-Score Guide
Legionella Guardian belongs to the classic shoot 'em up (shmup) genre. These techniques — borrowed from arcade shmup traditions — will help you push deeper into the 100-wave campaign and climb the leaderboard.
Movement & Hitboxes
Your ship's hitbox is smaller than its sprite. Weave through bullet gaps by trusting the center of your ship, not its edges. Small, deliberate taps beat frantic swipes — always leave yourself a lateral escape route.
Wave Management
Prioritize enemies that shoot downward columns first — thin the formation from the edges so bullets don't overlap into unavoidable walls. Save your beam for dense clusters and super bacteria spawns.
Boss Patterns (Waves 10, 20, …, 100)
Every 10th wave is a boss. Learn its telegraph before committing — most patterns loop every few seconds. Stay mobile during spread attacks; punish hard during recovery frames. Each boss defeat unlocks a permanent weapon upgrade, so surviving matters more than speed-killing.
High-Score Tips
- Chain kills quickly to keep multipliers alive.
- Never miss a super bacteria — the missile launcher power-up is a huge score boost.
- Save bombs for boss phases, not trash waves.
- Late-game, cascade + piercing upgrades stack for chain-reaction scoring.
